Newspaper Archives:

• Daily Telegraph Search - since 1994         One of Britain's major papers offers an archive going back two years.  You have to register, but it's free. 
• The Times and The Sunday Times - since 1996         Complete archives of the London paper going back to 1996.  Not searchable but you can choose any date. You have to register first but it's free. Go to the main front page Then  click on the "Library" button on the masthead.
• The Guardian - since 1996        An excellent archive search going back  to the spring of 1996.  Go to main Guardian page and click on "Archive". You can search by headline or text.
• The Financial Times          Must register first, but it's free. Offers an excellent archive search . Click on "Search site" on the masthead.  
• Financial Times - Specials Archive     Various in-depth reports
• Financial Times Global Archives     Many excellent world papers.  You can search by region or publication
• An Phoblacht         Republican paper offers archives from 1995 and 1996

Archive collections:

• Electric Library     Extensive collection of UK and international newspapers and magazines. Monthly fee required
• Newstrawler  Allows you hunt not the entire web but only newspaper and magazine web sites. Divided by country - search only the  UK   -- or by category. You can even personalize the newspapers you always want searched
• News-Review        Free search and retrieval from limited number of economic publications.  The News-review Cutting service    The archive contains over 100,000 articles. Search engine allows non-subscribers to find articles by company, person or individual word. Download the full text of the articles for a charge of 1 each.
