Alaska Court Records
If you need Alaska court records for your Alaska background check, then you will need to contact the Alaska Court System. The Alaska Court System is made up of four levels: the supreme court, the court of appeals, the superior court, and the district court.
The CourtView system will allow you to search for Alaska court records. You should always verify the identity of the person listed in the database by at least confirming a match for the date of birth. Anyone conducting an Alaska background check should verify the information before taking adverse action against an employee or potential employee.
Both civil and criminal case information is provided, including information on traffic cases and other minor offenses; however, neither search will include confidential cases. There are comprehensive case information files from 1990 and onwards. You will need to contact each court about information on cases that occurred prior to 1990.
To perform a search, you will need to:
-
Step 1: Provide the name, ticket number, or case number in a written request to the clerk of court or the records department at the location where the case was filed.
Step 2: Include the names of the parties, case number, case type, and your name, address, and phone number.
Step 3: Provide payment. There is a charge of $0.25 per page for copies. Certified copies cost $5. There is also a $15.00 per hour research fee. Some courts may require a deposit to begin searching.
