Kentucky Background Checks

Kentucky background checks are now much easier to perform than they had been in the past. Many websites have created databases of public records, and these records can be searched like a search engine in order to bring up information regarding that individual. This allows you to perform Kentucky background checks on anyone at your convenience.

Is the Data Accurate?

The data is as accurate as government data can be. The standard caveats apply - sometimes the government has outdated information, poor record keeping, etc., but in general the data tends to be fairly accurate and updated regularly in order for these searches to bring up the most accurate result.

What Are Some Issues That May Occur?

The only issues that may prevent your Kentucky background checks from bringing up the most relevant results are:

  • If the individual hasn't updated information with the government, which means it has yet to become public record.
  • If the name is very generic, you may need to know a few more details about the individual to figure out which one is them.
  • If you know a nickname that you thought was a first name, you may have trouble finding the right person.
  • Otherwise, Kentucky public records tend to be exactly what you need them to be - fast ways to locate information on an individual that is important to you. Because you can perform these searches so quickly and easily, there is now no reason to take risks with the people you associate yourself with. Perform a search, get the information you need, and relax your mind.

    Kentucky Jail Records

If you need Kentucky jail records for performing your Kentucky background checks, then you will need to contact the Kentucky Department of Corrections. The Department of Corrections maintains the Kentucky Offender Online Lookup (also known as KOOL). The KOOL system allows the public to access information about offenders. However, there is no guarantee that the information is completely accurate, and updates are made daily as information becomes available. Inmate date that is newer than 120 days may not be finalized and therefore is more likely to be subject to editing and updates.

The KOOL system allows you to search by inmate name. You can also conduct an advanced search using ID number, institution, personal description, and conviction information. For the most accurate results, the Department of Corrections suggests entering as little information as possible that will still generate a match. Leaving all fields blank will allow you to see all of the records of inmates; however, this search can take some time to upload, depending on your computer and processing capabilities.
