Missouri Criminal Records
Missouri’s State Highway Patrol’s CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Division maintains and compiles Missouri criminal records. The CJIS is responsible for making these records as accurate and complete as possible by collecting Missouri criminal records from criminal justice agencies on offenders. The CJIS records arrests, detentions, indictments, criminal charges, as well as sentencing, correctional supervision and release information.
In addition to maintaining Missouri criminal records, the CJIS also records statistics, criminal incident reports, and arrest reports. A name-based search requires full name, date of birth and social security number, while a fingerprint search just requires fingerprints.
Missouri criminal records are available to anyone, both individuals and business entities. If you’re an individual, you can request a name-based search that will give you all open records associated with that individual. This includes any Missouri criminal records containing convictions or guilty pleas, arrests less than 30 days old, charges filed by a prosecutor but waiting on disposition from the court, and SIS (Suspended Imposition of Sentence) records occurring during a probation period.
However, keep in mind this type of Missouri criminal record is not guaranteed; without fingerprints to verify identification, the results are only considered a probably match. The fee for this service is $9. Requests made via mail for either search will take up to 3 weeks to process.
Individuals or businesses requiring a positive match for Missouri criminal records must be authorized to request a fingerprint based search. These search results will yield both open and closed criminal records, including a complete criminal history with all arrests, whether charges were filed or not, any charges that were dismissed or acquitted in court, and any SIS on record.
The fee for this search is $20 unless you’re applying for a conceal-carry weapons permit or are part of the Department of Social Services trying to place a child in foster care. In these cases, the fee is $14. You may also request Missouri criminal records in person for name-based searches only, and this takes about thirty minutes to complete. Simply visit the Missouri State Highway Patrol public window at the address below.

You can also obtain this information in person at your local licensing office, but a $2 administrative fee will be added.
