Oregon Background Checks

One of the only ways to find out information about people in your life is with Oregon background checks. These background checks allow you to find out detailed, government collected data on almost every individual you're looking for. People use Oregon background checks for many different purposes, including, but not limited to:

  • Finding the address or contact information of lost friends.
  • Looking at criminal records of potential babysitters or relationship partners.
  • Finding out if someone is married or single.
  • Employment agencies may use Oregon background checks as well to get a feel for the person they're dealing with, especially if there is a reason to be skeptical about their criminal history.

    What's Included?

These Oregon background checks are based on publically collected data via public records. The information is accessed, processed, and placed in easy to use people search engines so that you can quickly find information about anyone, and rest your mind on whether or not that person is trustworthy or finding a quick address that you needed to access.

The process is fairly painless, and the result is that you can find out these accurate bits of information without having to either:

  • Ask permission of the individual you're searching for.
  • Notify the person you're looking at data on them.
  • Because these background checks are so convenient, you have no reason to limit yourself to what the person tells you about themselves. If you feel they may not be trustworthy, or you have some other reason to check out their past, you can do so easily simply by typing in their first and last name and having some idea where they live in case you get too many results.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) public records website lists several divisions and sections of the state police that maintain their own public records and are responsible for the dissemination of requested information. Users may obtain police reports or citations, criminal history records, criminal background checks and seals or expungements. Additionally, the website gives out information on firearms information, road information, and court locations.

All criminal history Oregon background checks are conducted by the Background Check Unit (BCU) or Oregon state. This department is a subsection of the Department of Human Services (DHS) and is responsible for all background and criminal history checks. There are two basic forms available with instructions – a request for when the final determination will be made by an authorized designee and a request for when the final determination will be made by the DHS BCU. No fees are charged for Oregon criminal records background checks.

The mission of the Oregon Department of Corrections (ODC) is to promote safety within the public sector by holding offenders accountable for their actions and thereby reducing further criminal activities. The ODC fully cooperates with the public in allowing free access to their offender search database. In addition to the online search, the ODC offers official or certified copies of offender records for nominal administrative (copying) fees.

Online searches of offenders can be accomplished with first and last names or by SID number. Once an offender's record has been located, the returned information includes a physical description, pictures, list of offenses, aliases and current location. Oregon Driving Records

The Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers a number of records pertaining to driving and vehicle records, as well as related information. Those requesting Oregon driving records from the Oregon DMV must qualify under specific guidelines. These guidelines outline that some records may be obtained by someone other than the owner, but all personal information not related to the requester will be sanitized to protect individual privacy. In some cases, records may only be obtained by either the record owner or legal entities.

Among the many records available, the most requested include an employment driving record for $2.00, driver license information for $1.50, and a certified court print listing major traffic offenses and other convictions for $3.00. An administrative fee may be charged if no record can be found, and the department does advise that if it is found that a requester does not qualify to receive the records being requested, payments and requests will be returned.
