State Level Information

"Any person may request to examine or be furnished copies, printouts or photographs of any public record during regular office hours or may request that the custodian mail a copy of any public record not otherwise available on the public body's web site to the requesting person." - Arizona Revised Statutes 39-121.01

Statute 41-1350 goes on to define the term Public Record as "all books, papers, maps, photographs or other documentary materials, regardless of physical form or characteristics, including prints or copies of such items produced or reproduced on film or electronic media pursuant to section 41-1348, made or received by any governmental agency in pursuance of law or in connection with the transaction of public business"

Court Record Resources

Arizona Revised Statute 41-1750 dictates that the central repository for criminal records in the state of Arizona shall be the Criminal History Records Section to whom all criminal justice agencies in the state are required to report arrests and dispositions. It further states that copies of criminal records are expressly restricted to authorized agencies and individuals.

Individuals seeking to review their criminal record because they believe it to be either inaccurate or incomplete should complete a Record Review Instruction Packet available from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Criminal History Records Section.

National clearances are available through the FBI and local clearances may be obtained through a local law enforcement agency.
