State Level Information
In New Mexico, the Inspection of Public Record Act is a series of laws that were created in order to allow for the public's unfettered access to public records of governmental bodies in the state of New Mexico.
"Recognizing that a representative government is dependent upon an informed electorate, the intent of the legislature in enacting the Inspection of Public Records Act (14-2-4 NMSA 1978) is to ensure, and it is declared to be the public policy of this state, that all persons are entitled to the greatest possible information regarding the affairs of government and the official acts of public officers and employees. It is the further intent of the legislature, and it is declared to be the public policy of this state, that to provide persons with such information is an essential function of a representative government and an integral part of the routine duties of public officers and employees." - New Mexico Statutes section 14-2-5

Court Record Resources
The NM State Central Repository for Criminal History is charged with maintaining arrest records on any persons arrested in the state of New Mexico on felony, misdemeanor and DWI offenses. This information is founded on fingerprint cards taken at the time of the arrest and they serve as the basis upon which criminal history records are built in the state.
Pursuant to 29-10-6(A) of the New Mexico Arrest Record Information Act, an individual may inspect, in person, through his counsel, or through his authorized agent, arrest record information concerning him/her.
