State Level Information
A series of laws enacted to guarantee the public's right to access of public records of governmental agencies in the state of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Open Records Act says in part, "As the Oklahoma Constitution recognizes and guarantees, all political power is inherent in the people. Thus, it is the public policy of the State of Oklahoma that the people are vested with the inherent right to know and be fully informed about their government." - Oklahoma Statutes 24A.2 - Political Power - Public Policy and Purpose of Act
In response to a challenge of the law, Attorney General Drew Edmondson submitted an opinion in July of 2008 that stated "Written or electronic exchanges between legislators are not subject to the Open Records Act". - The Oklahoman, July 25, 2008

Court Record Resources
The privacy of individuals is protected in the exceptions to the Open Records Acts. According to Oklahoma Open Records Act, Title 51 ยง 24.A.5.2, any request for criminal history record information will not be considered complete without:
- full name of subject
- date of birth of subject
Other identifying information such as Social Security Number and aliases and maiden names when known should be included to ensure a more accurate search, though without a fingerprint comparison no name search can be considered complete.
